The first days

What is normal

Most people are pink for a few hours after a light peel. Fine flaking follows for two to three days. A medium peel is stronger. The skin is red and tight for a day or two, then peels visibly for five to seven days. The pinkness fades over the week after that.

The first two weeks

Getting back to normal

You go back to your day the same day after a light peel. After a medium peel, most people take a few days while the skin peels. Stay out of the sun for two weeks, then use sunscreen every day. Do not pick the peeling skin or pull it off. Leave out exfoliants and active skincare for a week.

How long it lasts

A light peel keeps the skin fresh for a few weeks, and the effect builds over a series. A medium peel improves pigment, lines and texture for months to a year with sun protection. The skin continues to age.

I had my first consultation with Dr. Tumi, and he was beyond fabulous. From the jump, he shook my hand and introduced himself to my daughter and I. He included her in the conversation and even had some laughs with her. This made the situation alot less vulnerable given the reason I was there. He is the second surgeon that I have met with, and wasn't going to be my last, until I decided he was the last. It is because of his honesty, integrity, authenticity and professionalism, that made my choice. I saw some comments in the reviews where people stated he made them feel uncomfortable while getting undressed and for me that did not happen. He was respectful of my space and was sure I was covered appropriately. I went to see him for a breat augmentation and Dr. Tumi did not think an augmentation would be required. I really appreciated that about him, because the first surgeon I met, insisted this procedure, despite me only wanting a lift with fat transfer. This is a huge cost savings for me, and more natural for my body type, and in my opinion. Dr. Tumi did not make me feel rushed with any questions and time was not ever an issue for him. He wanted to be sure I knew all that I needed. His office manager Karyn, was absolutely wonderful and easy to connect with. She took her time to discuss things that I did not think of and even called me over the weekend when I emailed her some more questions. This is above and beyond care. My surgery is April 20th and I know I am in good hands. I will follow this up with further reviews in the future and have no doubt it will be 5 stars across the board. One last thing... of all the reviews, I paid attention to the ones where the patients actually had surgery, not the ones who were disgruntled about the office staff or OHIP issues. After all, it is the surgeon we want precision with, isn't it? Thanks Karyn and Dr. Tumi, for making me comfortable and content.

The cost depends on the peel chosen and the number of sessions. A series is priced as a package. You are given the figure at the consultation rather than before it. Not covered by OHIP. Financing is available through Beautifi, Medicard and Credit Medical.

Typically about thirty minutes, and you leave straight afterwards.

None is needed. A light peel tingles and a medium peel stings for a few minutes, eased with cool air. It is done in the office treatment room.

A light peel brings two to three days of fine flaking. A medium peel peels for five to seven days. The pinkness fades over the following week.

For most patients, a tingle or a brief sting while the solution is on, and tight, warm skin for the rest of the day.

None to speak of for a light peel; five to seven days of visible peeling for a medium one. No sun for two weeks either way. ---

Priscilla Carvalho examines your skin before any strength is agreed, and recent history counts for as much as skin type. Tanned skin, an active cold sore, or isotretinoin in the last several months all mean waiting rather than proceeding. A medium peel is also chosen differently for darker skin, which is part of what that examination establishes.
