Send a question first. We can tell you whether it is something Dr. Tumi does and what the next step would be. Whether a procedure suits you is answered at the consultation, after an examination.
01
What a consultation is for
You do not need to arrive knowing which procedure you want. Most people do not.
Describing what bothers you is enough, because Dr. Tumi examines the area and works out what is causing it, and the cause is often not what people expect. Heaviness around the eyes can come from the lid, the brow, or the muscle that lifts the lid. A fold beside the mouth is often a cheek that has descended. Those are treated differently, and telling them apart is the appointment.
You will be told what can be done, what cannot, what it involves, what recovery looks like, and what it costs. If a smaller procedure would achieve what you want, you will be told that. If nothing surgical is the honest answer, you will be told that too.
"I will not do a surgery on you if you do not need it."
Nobody is asked to decide on the day.
02
What happens at the appointment
Assessment. Dr. Tumi examines the area. He asks about your medical history, your medications, and what you want to change.
Explanation. What is causing what you are seeing, and the options, including the option of doing nothing.
Photographs. Taken for your clinical record where a procedure is being considered.
A written quote. It comes once the assessment is complete. The examination decides the procedure, and the procedure sets the price.
03
How to prepare
Bring a list of your medications and supplements. Bring your medical history too, including any surgery you have had. If a photo shows the concern better than a mirror does, bring that as well.
Write your questions down beforehand. Almost everyone forgets at least one.
Each procedure has its own page on this site. The page says what the procedure does and what it does not do. Arriving having read it makes the appointment more useful.
04
Cost and financing
Cosmetic procedures are not covered by OHIP. Some reconstructive and functional work is assessed differently and is discussed case by case.
We work with three financing providers: Beautifi, Medicard and Credit Medical.
