His approach

Surgical and
non-surgical consultations

Patients describe the consultation as the reason they chose him more often than they describe any procedure, so it is worth setting out what actually happens in it.

He examines rather than takes a description. What people believe is causing what they see is frequently not what is causing it. Heaviness around the eye has three common causes. It can be loose skin on the lid, a brow that has descended, or a weakened muscle that lifts the lid. Each one is treated differently. A fold beside the mouth is often a cheek that has dropped rather than a fold that has deepened. Sorting that out is the appointment.

He explains what he finds in ordinary language, including what cannot be changed. He gives the smaller option where a smaller option exists, and he says when nothing surgical is the honest answer.

Steps to book

From first call to your recovery

  1. 01

    Choose how to meet

Meet Dr. Tumi in person in Barrie, or begin by video or phone. Pick the one that suits you.

  2. 02

    Book and prepare

Book online or call 705.737.9235. Bring a list of your medications and supplements, your relevant medical history, and your questions written down.

  3. 03

    Your assessment

Dr. Tumi examines the area and works out what is actually causing it. You will be told what can be done, what cannot, and what recovery looks like.

  4. 04

    A written quote

The quote comes after the assessment, because the assessment is what determines the procedure. Nobody is asked to decide on the day.

  5. 05

    Payment and financing

Cosmetic procedures are not covered by OHIP. Financing is available through Beautifi, Medicard and Credit Medical, so the cost can be spread over monthly payments.

  6. 06

    Your date and recovery path

Choose a surgery date with time off booked before it, not during recovery, and someone to drive you home. You leave with written aftercare instructions and your follow-up appointments.

An assessment and a conversation.

You do not need to arrive knowing which procedure you want. Describing what bothers you is enough. You are not committing to surgery by booking a consultation.
